Legal Fee Calculation Method

The Legal Fee for a standard Sale & Purchase Agreement is based on Solicitors’ Remuneration Order 2023. The scale fees are as follow:

Consideration or Adjudicated Value Scale of Fees
For the first RM500,000 1.25% (subject to a minimum fee of RM500)
Subsequent of RM7,000,000 1%
  Where the consideration or adjudicated value is in excess of RM 7,500,000 Negotiable on the excess
(but shall not exceed 1% of such excess)

Stamp Duty Calculation Method

In addition to Legal Fees, a buyer will also need to pay ad valorem stamp duty on the property transfer:

Purchase Price or Adjudicated Value Scale of Fees
First RM 100,000                    1%
RM 100,001 to 500,000                    2%
RM 500,001 to RM1,000,000                    3%
above RM1,000,000                    4%
