Legal Fee Calculation Method
The Legal Fee for a standard Sale & Purchase Agreement is based on Solicitors’ Remuneration Order 2023. The scale fees are as follow:
Consideration or Adjudicated Value | Scale of Fees |
For the first RM500,000 | 1.25% (subject to a minimum fee of RM500) |
Subsequent of RM7,000,000 | 1% |
Where the consideration or adjudicated value is in excess of RM 7,500,000 | Negotiable on the excess (but shall not exceed 1% of such excess) |
Stamp Duty Calculation Method
In addition to Legal Fees, a buyer will also need to pay ad valorem stamp duty on the property transfer:
Purchase Price or Adjudicated Value | Scale of Fees |
First RM 100,000 | 1% |
RM 100,001 to 500,000 | 2% |
RM 500,001 to RM1,000,000 | 3% |
above RM1,000,000 | 4% |
